Our Lady & St. Dominic's Roman Catholic Church
High View Road, Cove, Farnborough, GU14 7PT
The church was built in 1973 and refurbished in 2004.
It holds 400 people and over 700 worship here each Sunday. There are many
young families in the parish community, and each year there are about 50
baptisms, about 40 children making their first holy communion, and 20 to 30
young people (14 years old) being confirmed. The children have their own
liturgy for part of the Mass, where they can hear the scriptures in their
own language. Two youth clubs for different age groups meet on Friday
evenings. The parish has a primary school, St Bernadette’s, with over 300
children.
There are group programmes to prepare people for the
sacraments. Other groups meet in the church hall or in people’s homes, for
prayer, to explore faith and scriptures, and for social events. There is a
summer fair each year and the cricket team plays other local churches. The
church is an integral part of the local deanery of six catholic parishes,
and support is provided for many activities by the Diocese of Portsmouth.
The parish gives active support to the other Christian churches in Cove and
Farnborough.
Masses on Sunday at 8.30 am, 10.00 am and 6.00
pm, and Tuesday to Saturday at 9.15 am.
